Oteba provides hands-on ESG advice to the mining industry.

We work with junior miners to ensure that ESG practices and frameworks are in place to minimise project risk and maximise investability.  'Hands-on' is in our DNA. We roll-up our sleeves and become part of your team. Our role is to understand every aspect of your project and provide bespoke advice that meets your needs.

When it comes to ESG we recognise that most mining companies want to do the
‘right thing’ in the countries and the communities in which they operate.

With the majority of capital focused on drilling, defining a resource and understanding project feasibility, ESG may seem unnecessary.   Oteba allows your company to have the value-added benefits of an ESG specialist and environment manager without the cost.

Bring on an Oteba ESG consultant to be part of your team for as many days
a week/month as your project requires.

Who We Work With

Who We Are

Oteba was founded in 2018 by Ben Pearson.  Ben is a qualified environmental scientist with 25+ years experience in environmental management and sustainability.

His experience has seen him work across a wide variety of areas which gives him a unique and informed perspective.  Ben spent a large part of his early career working in various environmental management/consultancy roles including stints with the environmental regulator, NGO’s, academic research and environmental consultancy.

As an environmental consultant, he focused mostly on EIA/EIS - leading multi-disciplinary teams delivering permitting on a wide range of large-scale infrastructure projects (including mines, roads, dams, etc.).

Oteba's clients understand that ESG initiatives can significantly increase a project's value, minimise risk and streamline approval processes.  All of these factors increase the ability for your project to attract investment.

Who We Are

He later co-founded OPEC Systems delivering technologies for environmental pollution control, emergency response management and bioremediation. The business remains an ongoing concern to this day.

After selling his equity stake in OPEC Systems he moved into Management Consultancy before co-founding a vocational training company delivering training programs with an emphasis on tourism, sustainability and resource efficiency.

After successfully exiting the training company, he was engaged by a U.S.
PE firm to turnaround a flailing waste management company with operations throughout the Sydney basin.

In 2018, he founded Oteba to deliver practical ESG solutions for junior miners.
